The story of my design starts long before the wooden whale decided to swallow up the mark left by the coffee cup. It all started when I was given the surname Soczewka (meaning ‘lens’ in Polish). From that moment on that name has influenced my whole life, leading me to take part in the ‘O-Six for Art’ project. Being Soczewka has enabled me to both focus on the world in all its detail and to look further beyond, opening myself up to pure imagination. This dual perception of reality is reflected in my creative process through chance, surprise, fusion, sensitivity, and above all joy. This is what has driven me to blend worm-eaten wood, the whale, and coffee stains to obtain a unique design: the spectacle frame.
